K-Pop Idols in Kdramas

Over the years, several popular K-pop idols like Cha Eun Woo have starred in all sorts of K-dramas. Not only are these idols amazing dancers and singers, but many of them are also excellent actors, capturing many fans and drama watchers across the globe! From being a cameo, side actor, to main lead, many idols have starred in web dramas and K-dramas.
Below are some of the K-Pop idols who starred in K-dramas and web dramas!
1. Cha Eun Woo (Lee Dong Min): Astro
Cha Eun Woo had starred in multiple K-dramas like the new drama “True Beauty” (2020-2021), playing the role of Lee Suho. He was also in another high school drama, “My ID is Gangnam Beauty” (2018), as Do Kyung Soo. Besides being a lead, he appeared in Revenge Note as a side character and a Youtube Web series called Top Management. Other than these dramas, he had appeared in Hit the Top and Rookie Historian Goo Hae Ryung. He always amazes the viewers with his talent in every role! He won several awards from his roles in dramas too! In Astro, Moon Bin has also starred in a few dramas as well, like “Moment at Eighteen”.
2. Suzy Bae: Miss A
After being a member of Miss A, Suzy soon debuted as an actress in the drama series Dream High as Go Hye-Mi. Soon, she began to star in more dramas like “While You Were Sleeping” (2017) as Nam Hong Joo, “Uncontrollably Fond” (2016) as Noh-eul, and many more dramas before. With her talent in acting, she also won several awards for best actress and the prestigious Baeksang Arts Awards.
3. D.O (Do Kyung Soo): EXO
From the popular group EXO, Do Kyung Soo, better known as D.O., has debuted as an actor, starring in several films. Like, “100 Days as Prince” (2018) as Lee Yool/Na Won Deuk, “Hello Monster'' (2015) as Lee Joon Young, “It’s Okay, That’s Love” (2014) as Han Kang Woo. He also had a cameo in “To The Beautiful You”. With EXO, they filmed a web series called EXO Next Door. Other members in EXO have also appeared in dramas like Kai, Suho, Chanyeol, and Baekhyun.
4. Park Jin Young: GOT 7
As a singer and songwriter in Got 7 under JYP, Jin Young soon debuted as an actor in Dream High 2 as Jung Ui Bong. Later on, he starred in several films like “He Is Psychometric” (2019) as Lee Ahn, “This is My Love” (2015) as young Ji Eun Ho/Park Hyun Soo, and the latest “When My Love Blooms” (2020) as young Han Jae Hyun. Another member from Got 7 named Im Jae Baeom, better known as JB, has also starred in two films.
5. L (Kim Myung Soo): Infinite
Since 2012, Kim Myung Soo (L) has starred in many many dramas. One of his popular ones includes his lead roles in “Meow, the Secret Boy” (2020) as Hong Jo, “Angel’s Last Mission: Love” (2019) as Kim Dan/Yoo Sung Woo, and his upcoming drama “Blade of the Phantom Master'' (2021) as Sung Yi Gyum. He had won several awards and been nominated many times from his work in these dramas. For example, he won the Best New Actor, Popular Star (Actor), Best Icon, K-Drama Hallyu Star, in 2019.
Not only is IU an extremely successful singer, but she has also proved that she is an amazing actress throughout the years. Staring as Kim Pil-suk in the 2011 Dream High, she had already been nominated for best actress in KBS Drama Awards. Later on, she starred in “Bel Ami” (2013) as Kim Bo-tong, “The Producers” (2015) as Cindy, and “Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo” (2016) as Hae-soo, which she won the Best Couple Award with her co-star Lee Joon-gi.
These are only a few of the many amazing K-pop idols who have starred in K-dramas throughout the past years. Amazing singers, amazing dancers, awesome actors, and actresses, we can’t wait to see more idols starring in even more K-dramas!
